F20 carb problems

I've been trying to get a '38 F20 I've owned for 25 years started again. For various reasons, it sat in my pole barn for at least 20 of those years, never started and never moved. I'd crank it now and then to keep it loose,though.
Well, I cleaned the fuel system all up, and rebuilt the carb, and really cleaned it up-I even drilled out all the passage plugs to clean in there, and then I replaced them with new plugs. New plugs, and a rebuilt magneto. The tractor will start right up on full choke, and idle nicely, but it won't stay running if I try to take it off the choke-the engine speeds up, but then the engine dies if I try to open the choke (even if the tractor is fully warmed up). I've tried to set the idle and main jets to the settings recommended on this form, but nothing changes. If I try to open up the choke, the engine speeds up. and then it stops. If I pull the choke back closed right away, the engine will catch again, and go back to idling well. What should I be looking at?
 
The engine speeds up because it's leaning out (running out of gas) So yes, you have a passage plugged. Did you have the metering jet out and clean that? It's a tube with tiny holes to let the fuel in and if those holes are plugged it will starve.
 
if it sat that long you may also have some crud plugging your fuel line or sediment bowl. I have found a lot of crud in the fuel shutoff , inlet and outlet ports of the sediment bowl assembly on my F-series .take it out of the tank and clean it out good and blow the lines out too.
 

I had to replace that long tube with a new one (I snapped the old one off), so it was clear when I put it in today. The fuel lines and all the screens are clear,too. I drained the gas when I stopped using it years ago, so all that was in good shape. Sounds like I'll have to take the carb off again and have another look at it.
 

Follow-up: I removed the main needle and jet, and noticed a passage I was not aware of. Of course, it was blocked, so I cleaned it out with carb cleaner. While I was in the neighborhood, I took the fuel line off, and ran carb cleaner through it, and blew it out with 100psi air. After I put it all back together, it started right up, and ran smoothly with no choke. Just about that time, the rotten old fan belt let go, so I called it a night. I'm pretty confident that issue is resolved. I thank you for your replies and advice.
