would it make a difference if i replace the original exhaust and intake valves that are 4.83 long and replace them 4.94 long valves? both kits say they are for the c113 engine farmall b but the lengths are differnet the 4.94 are cheaper ?
 
WOW! That's nearly an eighth of an inch... (.125")! That's gotta change the valvetrain geometry a bit, doesn't it?
 
You need to use the same length valve you have. The longer one is for gasoline engine and shorter is distillate. The spring tension would be way off and your rockers would not contact tip properly.
 
the original ones i have are the shorter ones and it runs on gasoline, if i buy the longer ones the kit comes with new springs which i would assume they are
suited for the longer valves.
 
I haven't checked the parts catalog on this, but I believe the valve springs are all the same. The upper valve spring seats (washers) should all end up in the same position. The valves are different lengths on the other end to compensate for different sizes of combustion chambers.
 
But the valves being longer they will extend farther over top of head and thus the tension on springs will be less, plus the geometry of rocker to valve will be way off.
 
Running on gasoline doesn't mean it is a gasoline head. Many distillate heads on those old engines running on gasoline. If the old valves worked properly you need the same length or you are in trouble. New springs won't change that.
