706 gas engine not getting enough gas to pull

my 706 gas got to where it would not even pull a bush hog or small bottom plow. put in a car. kit and now it will not even run with out the chock pull out. the idle scree has no effect all the way in or the way out. checked the fuel line from gas bowl to the car. seems to be enough gas. need some advice. thanks John

"Seems to be enough gas" unhook the line at the carb and run a gallon out, if the flow it not the same at the end as the beginning then start looking there. Next is take the plug out of the bottom of the carb, then move into the the carb. There are no short cuts in a diagnoses, start at the front and work your way down line.
My mower quit running and I knew the fuel pump quit so I bought a new one, (I should have looked a little more) it was a bad wire crimp, and now I have a 50.00 pump setting on the shelf.

With the fuel line disconnected at the carburetor you should be seeing a full stream of fuel out of the line continuously, with no sputters or dribbles or anything. Just straight fuel.

Also, "putting a carb kit in" is not a guarantee that the carburetor will work right afterwards. You've got to clean everything and put it back together correctly. Float setting is crucial, and the float is kinda delicate. If you ding it a little you can cause it to rub on the side of the carburetor bowl and then it won't move properly, and can choke off the flow of fuel.

Thanks to all of you who gave advice. I ran about 1and 1/2 gal. gas out at the car. It ran out good from start to finish. Took car. off and went through it with the tip cleaners, blew all holes out, cleaned it and put it back on. It ran about 10% better but still will not pull anything. when I switch it off gas runs out the bottom of the car. until I turn off the gas. I will see about getting new float this week. Thanks again for all input on this.

Does it have a fuel shut off seleniod on the side of the carb? When they go bad, you'll have the same problems -Fuel to the carb but not into the bowl. May run only with the choke on, I've bought my 756 gas with this same trouble. Finally wouldn't run by using the choke anymore, that's when I found the problem. Previous owner thought it had a plugged fuel tank.
