#3 sleeve is leaking coolant into oil pan (400)

I assume that to correct this problem, I will need to pull the head, pull out the piston and remove the sleeve. If the bore in the block is ok, then what do I do? Is the sleeve suppose to be a tight fit? If it is too loose, is that why the coolant is getting in the oil? If I get it fitted properly will the leaking stop? I don't think it is a head gasket problem, because I have not lost much coolant and it has not been over heating.
Thank you

If it is a wet sleeve engine yep pull the head piston and sleeve then clean up the area at the bottom of the sleeve and install new sleeve o-rings and close it back up

I do think that is is dry sleeved so you better take it on down and check the block.

I suppose it could seep from the head gasket down past the sleeve.

If leaking between sleeve and block. One repair is to have the block bored at that cylinder and a repair sleeve fitted at a machine shop. Then the repair sleeve is sized for a regular sleeve to fit back in it. If leaking between piston and sleeve check the head and top surface of the block.

yep, pull head, examine gasket for sealing. pull sleeve examine bore for cracks, as that is the most likely problem. sleeve will need a puller to get it out if you want to save it. otherwise can run a couple welds from top to bottom and it will pull out with your fist. sleeve fitting has nothing to do with the leakage. I have used green locktight on those stress cracks in the block and put them together and no problem. the sleeve takes a good push by hand when reassembling it.

It is going to be a rainy day today. Might be a good time to work on her. I just put the loader on it too. If only my back was happy about it. Thank you for the help.
