SMTA with Fast Hitch?

(quoted from post at 07:22:17 08/14/14) Any SMTA tractors built by IH with Fast Hitch? Or add-on later?
LA in WI

The larger size Fast Hitch did not come along until the 300/400 series, but they could be retro-fitted to a SMTA. IIRC, it was actually not the first 400 version that fit the SMTA though, but the 450 version... maybe someone can correct or verify that.

No SMTA from factory with a fast hitch. 300/400 version will not work without major modification. 350-460 version also will not fit, as the mounting plates are too narrow. Needs to be from 450-560, then it'll bolt right up.

this is the only part that looks modified to install the top lift cyl bracket , I think they drilled and tapped a couple holes and welded the threaded rod. The piece of wood wired to hold the pin is a more recent mod , there used to be a curved piece if steel that actually looked like it belonged there , but it must have broke off at some point and this seemed to work at the time.

I think it was originally intended to be a factory option on the SMTA, was never actually was. There may have been some dealer installed in '54, but other than some factory test machines, I'd bet non ever left the production line with a Fast Hitch.
