15/30 Question

There are all kinds of homemade starters, I saw a F-20 with a Chevy flywheel and starter running from the PTO. I have seen a belt driven running from the front V pulley to a starter hanging under the motor, and yes I have seen them run from the belt pulley.

I know someone who has a 22-36 that he fitted an electric start to. The starter is down in the cast iron chassis tub out of sight. I recall he said he used a 12v Hitachi gear reduction starter and I think he said the ring gear was made from a Honda flex plate. It did require him to cut a chunk out of the tub and he formed a sheet metal cover to disguise it. It was well done and the only tip off at first glance was the battery box and cables.
