I am considering buying a 1466. Can anyone tell me about it in general. Strong and weak points. I know nothing about them and I found one relatively inexpensive. All I have seen is a picture. I have an 806 & 856 and they work very well, can I expect the same dependability from a 1466?
Thanks

They are a good old tractor but can turn into a money pit real quick too. These tractors are 40 years old and have a lot of expensive parts that wear out. If you found one you knew the history of that had been well cared for, I would not be afraid of it.

They told me that the tractor had been used to operate a 10 ft 3 pt shredder for about the last 10 years & it had not been used in the last year or so. They told me "it starts right up".

Have the 1466 put on a dyno to see what HP its putting out. If its at the proper HP and everything works good buy it. If its putting out way more HP than it should be nervous. With the turboed tractors a lot of farmers turned the pumps way up to 200 plus HP and ran bigger impliments than the tractors were designed for. This caused a lot of internal wear. If they are used at 160 HP like they were designed to have, they were as tough as you could buy. hope this helps. Kent
