i have a 1965 Farmall 706 Gas , i need to swap engines , i bout another 263 gas but came out of a combine . front timing cover on engine in tractor now bolts through frame rails , horizontal bolting , the 263 combine timing gear cover the bolts are vertical , Can i change the timing gear covers and are they interchangable ?
or do i need to make brackets to bolt this combine 263 eng ? tractor engine has seized up , and has been setting out side for last 12 years , DO you think this farmall is worth fulling with ? oil in rear end looks good !!!! hoping all internal bearings hydraulic pump being submerged in oil all this time is still good !! But probably find that answer out when tractor is running again
Please Help !

If it has been sitting outside for that long you had better change the hydraulic oil and filter before you try starting it.You will find alot of water in the bottom of it and if you don't stir it up alot it will come out crysal clear as soon as you crack the plugs.

Along with the front cover you will also need to pull the camshaft and swap the plate between the cover and the engine.

Everything off the engine block in the tractor will fit on the combine block. Just transfer whatever tractor parts are needed to make the engine fit and work in the tractor.

Like someone else said, the camshafts will need to be removed from both engines to transfer the front plate, I think, to the combine engine. The front plate is what that front cover bolts to.
