Farmall B Starting

Just got my dad"s Farmall B running
Will start with relatively short compression run (down hill coast) - Fires off after a couple of seconds after up to speed.
Runs fine after starting
Have been unable to successfully get it started via electric starter- engine turns over but have yet to sense even partial firing (new battery - 6 volt system)
or hand crank
tried starts with engine both hot and cold - no success
any suggestions

motors will start easier rolling off, etc., than with starter.

maybe a timing problem.

does starter turn engine over rapidly? if not maybe an electric problem. maybe need to clean battery ground connections.

Make sure you have a good blue spark that will jump 1/4 inch, and check your compression. Please check back after these tests.

The compression test should be done with throttle wide open and the engine warmed up.

That engine should take nothing to start with a crank. Even a cripple like me can get my A started in 1/2 of a turn. Clean the carb out spick and span and then check the timing. Check the compression as well - it could be too low to draw in the mixture. Something like seized rings.

Is it magneto ignition? If so, maybe the impulse coupling is not working. You should be able to hear it "clicking" as you try to start it.

Fill in the blanks. How long has it sat with out running etc. If it sat a long time the rings will be stuck to the pistons so a good ATF treatment is needed to free them up and up compression
