I have a 1086 international and have just rebuilt the power stearing pump now the steering want let me turn the wheels what is wrong

Try adding another five gallons of hytran or equivalent to the reservoir; it can't hurt and it will probably cure the problem. The filler tube is the same one for the overall hydraulic system, between the remote cylinder connections, a couple of feet above the pto.

Did you rebuild the steering pump or the steering motor?

If it was the motor under the steering wheel. Some one over tighten the bolts that hold it together.

There is a fine line between tight enough to not leak and to tight to allow the innards to turn.

Yep the bolts on the bottom of the steering motor.

They are a 12 sided head on the bolt.

Loosen them about a 1/4 turn and try to steer it.

Keep trying a 1/4 turn at a time until it steers.

Hopefully the seals won't leak this winter from being over tighten. When the Hytran is thicker they like to leak from the extra pressure

There are very few mechanics that will work on the motor cause they are so touchy.

Another question. Did the person that rebuilt it use the old style innards or did they upgrade to the easy steer innards that were used on the later(1981) 86 series tractors?
