M wiring diagram

Looking for a diagram for a farmall m, 12 volt generator, positive ground, with magneto, and a 3 position switch, must have something hooked up wrong cannot get it to change, have had generator checked out twice and it is working. Any help would be great. Thanks Doug

Simple test ground the field on the gen and if it charges its the reg if it dont charge its the gen but you say the gen checks out is the gen,reg and sw all grounded as they need to have ground for the system to work. Lots of times the lite sw isnt grounded due to rust ect.

If you have not done it yet, you need to polarize the generator. With it not running, briefly connect a wire from the BAT. term of regulator to the GEN term of regulator. A small spark is normal. Do NOT touch the wire to the FLD terminal while doing this.

Wow I think I have tried evry trick in the book and am getting no where, I have checked grounds, polarized it, when I turn lights on it goes to discharge but can not make it charge. I will keep at it, hope to have it going for Saturday as we are having a small tractor day, thanks for all your help. Doug

Make sure the Generator is grounded at its frame to the block.
Run a wire from the F terminal of the generator to ground, then start it. if it does not charge there is possibly something wrong with the cutout relay.
