Super C fast hitch

I just got a Super C with the factory fast hitch set up. I replaced the hoses going to the block under the seat and to the cylinder.. and the copper washers on the ends of the block...it was gushing fluid everywhere. I can raise the hitch but it does not want to come down. I thought it was because of trapped air and cycled the lever back and forth many times, it then began working up and down yesterday. Today I started it up and it would go up but not come down. It goes up good and it moves slightly when moving the lever to the down position but then stops...Any Ideas??? Thanks Guys!!!

no expert and could be way off, but could it be gunk, built up in the box at his feet that controls the down pressure speed.

Was it working before you changed the hoses? Are you absolutely sure you got all 4 hoses back in the original positions? Getting a couple hoses swapped on the block at the seat could cause that exact problem.

Jim, yes it was doing that before I changed the hoses but couldn't run it too much because it was leaking so bad. I am sure I got them all back where they belong, or where they were. The fluid is pretty clean, it was near empty when I got it. I am wondering why it started working and then the next day it would raise but not lower? When I removed the end plugs from the block I noticed they were different lengths, and I tried it but they would NOT interchange. Now I am wondering if there are supposed to be springs under the plugs to keep the valves centered because there were not any in this block....Ed

There are some fairly long lines involved here... maybe there is still air in the system. Let it sit a while and the air "migrates" to a higher place and causes trouble on start-up. You may need to crack some lines loose and work the system to get it all out. Messy I know, but may have to be done. After working in a hydraulics test lab for 25 years, I've seen air do some funny things.

Ed, Yes there is suppose to be a spring on one end which is ref. no. 5 (part no. 350668R1) as shown in the parts catalog on page 195-197. If you don't have a TC-44 parts catalog you can check on-line through the CaseIH website to see where it is to be installed. Messicks web site shows them in stock and available for $6.05 and it appears to be about 13/16" long but doesn't show the diameter but would be sized to fit the proper cavity in the valve block. Hope this helps, Hal.

Hal, It sure does help!!! I will check my local dealer and if he doesn't have it I will order one...THANKS!!!! Ed
