Engine Balancer Assembly

Hello,

I just recently purchased an IH664 with the d239 engine. I noticed a knock develop and immediate shut it down. I pulled the pan and the engine balancer destroyed itself, but luckily the crank gear is still ok. I ordered a new one, but it won't be in until middle of september. I can get a used one for 425. I also saw where people have just ran them without the balancer. So what would you guys recommend?

Seems like for $425 you can be back up and running ASAP, and know your engine is going to be OK, where running without a balancer is a risk that has worked out ok for some people, but not necessarily everyone.
 
Hi, don't run without the balancer in place, You don't have oil pressure on the crankshaft, if you remove the balancer. For $425, if the bushings are tight, it's a deal. It have timing marks on balancer and crank gears, make sure the timing is ok when you put in place. Bernard in Quebec Canada
