Saw this PTO drive box at a show in KY. Bolts between tractor housings. Wondering about the manufacture and purpose. On a SAV.

I dont care what the decals say thats not a producton AV. The tranny shifter and so forth are not production stuff. It must be a cross bred something of some sort hard to tell just what it is and where it came from. Decals dont mean anything on that tractor.

Torque tube and transmission have the correct casting numbers and the correct date codes. Box in between makes the wheelbase longer. Shift lever on top of added center box it for pto engagement. Transmission shifter looks more back because the seat is to front since the steering wheel is farther away from standard seat setting with the extra gear box between torque tube and transmission housing.
Add on gear box is not home made. Trying to find out who made it?

Not an authority by any stretch. Seems tractors were modified to handle such tasks as trenching or Christmas tree trimming. They were modified with either very slow speed or hydro drive transmissions.

I have one on my IH 140 with an Auburn trencher manufactured in Auburn Nebraska. I don't know if the creeper box was specifically for the Auburn trencher or manufactured by another company for other uses.

Thanks, that makes sense for the reroute of the PTO to retain pto speed with a reduction box ahead of the transmission.
