WD 9 serial number

Hello I"m new here and looking for help in identifying a WD9. The owner has looked at the ID plate and tells me it starts WDC9B and then has four numbers and ends with the usual W12B. He has looked with a magnifying glass but I can"t believe this is right and should just be WDCB and 5 numbers as it"s a 1952 tractor . Also , for the record , what is The prefix for a Super WD9?

Hope someone can help. Thanks

Taken from Guy Fay's data book a 1952 WD-9 should only have the prefix of WDCB and be within the serial number range 59407-64013. No mention of a "9" within the prefix.

The Super WD-9 prefix is SWD-9 and would have a serial number range of 501-7232 for the years 1953-1956. There are some easily distinguishing features on a Super WD-9 that also help identify it from a regular WD-9.

Thanks for that Red. I'm away from home and my letter series books so trying to rely on memory !

One other thing, was there a standard factory fit set of live hydraulics [ reservoir, spool valve etc.] and do you know if there is anything on line I could look at ?

Thanks again

Yes, there was a factory set of hydraulics available on the WD-9's. I am going to guess that probably half of the ones sold had them. Here is a link to an old post of mine that just happens to show the factory hydraulic components of a factory setup on my 1952 WD-9. The only thing that is not original on this tractor is the pioneer hydraulic couplers and the hoses which had to be replaced due to age. The original couplers are very obsolete--no one uses them that I am aware of (however, I do have a set).

The pump is mounted between the magneto and the engine. The tank is the round, cylindrical tank mounted to the rear of the battery boxes. The spool is mounted above the left rear axle, right beside the left fender.

I wonder if you could help me out here.
On another post I"ve found out about the hydraulics on my "52 WD9. The pump is correct, as are the pipe connectors at the back of the tractor. What I need to move is the reservoir. I reckon I can sort that out as it seems a fairly basic cylinder. Could you measure yours up for me please and put on the location of the in/out and how it fits to the tractor?? Many thanks.
