574 PTO output shaft replacement

I need to replace the 540 PTO output shaft, on my 574, due to the end being broken off. I have the replacement shaft, bearing, gasket and seal. My thinking was this job was going to be a "piece of cake". I removed the cover and have now determined that I have a groove clip that will not the broken shaft assembly slide out from the back. My question; How do I access the shaft keeper to remove it from the backside of the drive gear thus letting the broken shaft slide out? I suspect this is not going to be an easy fix but am still hopeful....

Hi Al, unfortunately to replace the 540 PTO shaft, you have to lift the hydraulic housing off the differential housing.
