B275 voltage reg

Hi Folks

I have a working generator now (not on the tractor yet) and decided to to a V-reg at the same time as I was told I could get a lucas one and used the OEM part number to order it. what came was something different with mounting holes wrong but its also got connections for 6 wires where the original only had connections for 4. can this even be used? how would you hook it up ?

Found a diagram. the extra connections look like they are for a warning light and there are 2 to the battery. Is there going to be problems with cut in or cut out voltage are they all generally the same.. I think they should be the same provided this is for 12v

Glenn - You are correct. As long as a regulator is calibrated for the same nominal system voltage as your tractor - ie. either 6 volts or 12 volts - and is wired correctly, you will be fine.

Thanks Bob M. yes it worked fine! Little big for where it had to go though, I'm going to complain to them and see if they have anything better. seems pretty cheaply made too... wonder if I can revive the lucas one?

I Made all new connections in the old wire and checked the insulation in the bundle as far as I could and all seems ok. The Generator puts out almost 16v with no load but only 13.8 hooked to the battery which was in need of a charge. the ammeter read 25a. How would I test the cut off? Want to be sure this regulator doesn't fry my battery. Also is there any usefulness in putting a Gen light on the dash ?
