How to get Wheel Bolts Loose

Morning,
Have been working to get the rim off my ih 454
rear wheel. Have gotten all the 15/16 nut and washers off but need to get tire and rim off so it can be changed and bolts are rusted . Then are square head on the back, how best to get them loose
???????
Thanks for your help
Harry

Put the nuts and washers back on just just enough to be sure the rim can not fall off then take it for a short drive. Doing that should pop the rim free of the center plate

Old,
Thanks for the idea ,but tire is flat calcium
rotted rim and tube out. What if I were to jack both tires off the ground and run it that way ?????

Just jack up the side with the flat tire on it. That way it will spin. If you jack up both sides one tire/rim will spin and the other one will just sit there and do nothing because of the Diff.

The bolts probably won't come loose just spinning the tire up in the air. It needs the weight of the tractor shifting around to break them loose.

Just to be clear, you have the nuts off but the bolts are rusted in place, right?

Rule #1 in these situations: If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer.

Any possibility you can suck the fluid out of the tires before you start knocking them off the tractor?

Well not sure tire was flat as flat as it could go so most of the fluid is out , yes the bolts except one are rusted fast to the rim . I tried to use a long punch but they are tight. Also would like to reuse old bolts if possible but if not it out to Hoobers for new bolts or maybe I could use grade 8 bolts and have a head on them these are square headed bolts. Thanks for the suggestions.

I HAVE HAD A FEW LIKE YOURS. PUT THE NUTS BACK ON PART WAY BUT NOT TIGHT. . PULL THIS WHEEL AT FRONT PART OF TIRE AGAINST TREE.LOCK THE BRAKE THIS SIDE, AND MAKE OTHER SIDE PULL AGAINST THIS WHEEL TO PRESSURE THE FRONT SIDE OF WHEEL. BE CAREFUL DOING THIS, BUT HAVE BROKE MANY LOOSE LIKE THIS.

Screw nut half way onto bolt. Screw another bolt into outside of nut. Use a big hammer to drive out old bolt. Once loose you can finish the job with a punch. Minimal damage to old bolt this way.

(quoted from post at 15:48:14 07/25/14) Whatever you do . . . DO NOT GET OUT THE TORCH! That is if you want to live any longer.

And what is wrong with a torch?? That is exactly what I had to use when I needed to remove the wheel bolts on my H. Heat the cast iron all around the bolt, let it cool slightly, spray with penetrating oil, and smack it with a hammer. If the bolt doesn't move, repeat the heating process. Don't even try to save the bolts. Get new ones.

The tabs are welded to the rim. if heated, a pyrolytic decomposition can take place in the tire and cause an explosion. if the bolts were on a rim clamp, I would still be warry of the situation. Google Pyrolytic tire explosions. Jim
