Farmall Super C control valve for 3 point lift

Just got a 1953 Super C and am just completed a tune up and fluid change.
I installed my 5' brush-hog and noticed that the hydraulic lift is very "jerky" going up or down. I also noticed that the hydraulic system applies pressure down as well as lifting the implement up. Seems like this would be hard on the mower in trying to let the mower float.
Is there a control valve on this tractor? With the mower raised, you can turn off the motor and lower the touch control, but the mower does not drop. It stays put until the motor is started again.
I haven't cleaned the screen (if there is one), but I have changed the hydraulic fluid. Shop manual is on the way.
Thanks in advance for your input-
Mike

that hitch has a two way cylinder . it has presure
both ways. no way to float. there is a scren in the
resovey four bolt plate on left side . if you
changed fluid may have little air in lines will work
by usage.

The rear lift cylinder is mounted to a rock shaft that works on a pivot arm through the tool box. From the rock shaft down to the two point lift mechanism is a single one inch solid lift shaft. The lift shaft has opportunity for a 3/8" or thereabouts cross pin at the top (intended to take away implement floating). DO NOT MOUNT MOST IMPLIMENTS WITH THAT CROSS PIN IN PLACE unless you have reason and instructions from the operators manual to do so. Remove this pin before you use a cutter, blade, or any rear plow. About the only thing I know of where we did use the pin was to put the pin in and with the drawbar installed we would lift the tractor with the hydraulics to slide the wheels in or out for tread width adjustment as described in the SC manual. We didn't like the procedure and only did it once that I know of. I do suggest you invest in a copy of the manual and read it since the 2-point is unique to these old tractors and most people do not know how to use them.

If I'm understanding you, you have an aftermarket 3 point operated by the Touch Control and not a modified Fast Hitch, is that right? You may have to modify the 3 point linkage or replace the rod to the Touch Control with a length of chain to allow flex.
And yes, the Touch Control will not lower when the engine is off.

Yes I have an aftermarket 3 point lift operated by a large horizontal rod running from the hydraulic pump lift arm to the rockshaft located in the back. Manuals are on the way, but I thought for sure there would be some type of control valve. Right now the only "flex" is where the vertical mount on the mower moves slightly from front to back.

The control valve you are using now is part of the Touch Control and it's internal to the system and no way to change anything. If you mount a separate control valve, like the add on for a Fast Hitch, you then need a cylinder and hoses to operate the 3 point. Your 3 point is not made for an external cylinder, but with enough engineering and $$$ almost anything is possible.
The aftermarket 3 points for these are limited in range and lift capacity, whereas the Fast Hitch system or it's 3 point adaptors will lift the front of the tractor off the ground... I know, we had a Super C when I was a kid and I have a 240U now and they have a tremendous lift capability.
