986 hydraulic couplers

ok another question guys.. one of my original coupler is leaking. I put a new pioneer adapter in thee and its leaking from all around the adapter... my question is, is there anyway I can do away with the original couplers and just run a pionner female on the end of the lines.. I seen the conversion kits and don't wanna spend 200 to convert

I'm GUESSING a simple "O" ring will fix the problem for under two bucks. Have you tried THAT?

Actually probably needs the whole O-ring kit PN. 549160R92, $127.64 from Fiat. You can buy the o-rings and backup rings separately but when you add them up the are near $140. You can get the ISO/pioneer conversion kits from Sloan Express for $129. Kits have everything you need to convert one coupler, internal parts, seals ect.

Why not just replace the Oring that is leaking from napa or similar store for 2 bucks. Why buy the whole kit from IH or Fiat.

I have run those IH couplers for 30 plus years, on 4 different tractors and have never bought a kit from IH.

Simple 2 dollar orings have fixed all my leaks.

By the way I have had those adapters go bad and leak no matter how many orings I tried.

well the one coupler that's leaking has a brand new adapter in it. ive never jacked with these type couplers, im used to straight pioneer style.. so i'm guessing take the snap ring out and pull the unit out and just replace the o rings then?

If you still have the original style couplers there is an O-ring and backup washer that can be replaced without taking anything apart on the coupler. The O-ring seals between the adapter and the inside of the coupler on the tractor.
