Hi guys,

Normally a case guy but dad just bought a 53 super c with wide front and fast hitch. What oil should be in the engine and what's the capacity? How about rear end as well? Thanks for the help!

Change filter fill with oil till it comes out of upper petcock then run engine after shutinng off recheck oil then you know it is full.

Congratulations to your dad for getting one of the handiest smaller tractors ever produced by IHC. I use my narrow front 1953 Super C fast hitch tractor to rake all of my yearly hay crop (6000 small square bales last year) and have found it to be the best rake tractor I've ever used. Of course a wide front won't have the same turning radius of the narrow front. With that fast hitch find some compatible fast hitch implements and you will wonder why anyone wanted those 3 point tractors in it's day.
A lot of folks on this forum use 15W-40 diesel oil like Shell Rotella or Mobil Delvac in these older Farmalls which works very well. In addition to the rear end lube which the original operator's manual calls for SAE 90 weight you also have the Touch Control system which requires IH Hy-Tran or an equivalent which holds about 7 pints if drained. Also, the engine air cleaner has a cup on the bottom which uses about a pint of the same oil as used in the engine. An Operators Manual for the Super C will come in quite handy for the new tractor, Hal.

10/30;15/40....The same oil you use in your Csae tractor, farm truck and family car is fine. You need a manual. At about 40 bucks the cheapest thing you can do for your tractor.can save several hundred dollars of unnessary/preventable repairs. Order right here from YT.
