rpm increase super c

What do I need to do to increase my rpm's some on my super c? I know it has something to do with the govenor. Is it just a turn of a screw?
 
There is a capscrew on top of the housing back it up some. Also remove the pin in the clevis going to the carb. With engine off open throttle then hold linkage linkage so the carb is open pin should go back in if not adjust that clevis. You will need to remove that piece so you can free up the clevis trying to adjust that clevis can bend the carb where the linkage pivots mite be able to use a vice grip on that linkage while you free th clevis. If you want more RPMS after backing the screw get a spring for a 240 they are stronger thus making more RPMs.

Ok I backed that screw out and revs way higher than it did but now it surges real bad till it gets under a heavy load. What adjustments can cure that.
 
Under the governor housing is another adjustment for the "Bumper Spring". Turn it up just a little bit at a time until the surging stops. It is directly under the other adjustment you made.
 
Where can I locate a 240 spring? I just picked up a 1953 Super C yesterday. The spring is incorrect, making it impossible to adjust the throttle correctly. Thanks for the good advice.
