mw 9 speed question

I just started a m that had been sitting it has a 9 speed with a lever on the side. when I first put in gear it didn"t move but I moved the lever up it was in high. after moving the lever a couple of times it finely was in normal. but I moved it again and it is stuck in high and wont change. the lever moves but it doesn"t seem like enough. is there adjustments that need to be made or something else wrong? thanks

Remove parts to look through belt pulley gear box opening. If number 7 and two pins attached to it with a retaining ring are moving the length of the collar it rides on when shifting back and forth and not locking into a range both ways you will need remove transmission shafts to repair. If not you may still have to disassemble but there"s a chance its something that can be corrected through the opening.

Tryed it again this time I held the clutch in and pushed the lever down when it was coasting and it felt like it was being pushed in and out. Also I looked at the coller it moves about 1/2 in or so from what I can see in the front it stops at the pins and the back it felt like it was tight to a gear. Thanks for the help

Those pins go to a splined piece that locks the counter shaft to the inside splines of the range gear shifted to. Sometimes the pins separate from the splined piece, or the splines could be damaged, but the splines are pretty tough.
