IH tour of a lifetime !!!!

Well folks, I have lived here in Salem, NY for 5 years now and during that time I've married a farm girl and become IH crazy. I have been hearing about this gentleman, "PT" who used to own Salem Farm Supply, the local IH dealer for decades. He was around in the late 40's through the 90's selling tractors and equipment and during that time he amounted a huge collection of Farmall tractors and various cars/trucks. Tonight I was blessed to be given the grand tour of this gentleman's barns and what an experience. He has dozens of Farmall tractors, all models, years, and combinations imaginable. He has tractors that he sold new and bought back 60 years later from the original owner, he has an H he sold for one year, bought back, and has not left the barn in 60 years. It's paint is original and has not been faded to the sun, what a beautiful sight!! He has a Farmall Cub Demonstrator that he sold and told me that as a dealer, he had one year to show the tractor in the showroom then paint it IH red before he sold it to a customer. He informed me that it's because of this IH rule that it's so difficult to find the demonstrators, you really need to do your research/searching. This gentleman has hundreds of IH toys and hundreds more still in the original box. The cars he has go back to the very early 1900's, wood spoke wheels, IH 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. He has 2 early IHC 2 cylinder trucks unrestored and one IHC truck that was a "production" truck that was never actually produced, he informed me that it was going to a museum soon. What an amazing man and tour, and for 90 years old, this gentleman was as sharp as a tack and offered information and will. What an honor to pick the brain of a true IH legend....~Anthony

Gentlemen such as he will be even more deeply missed because of all they know and have seen! There is a mechanic of IH's back where I grew up and he is very knowledgable about IH's. I try to learn from him whenever I can.

Wow! My husband and I would enjoy THAT tour.

It'd be fun if he contacted Max Armstrong or someone
like him to do a short film/interview. Would love to
see it.

I am very envious of you! I would love to see a collection like that by the original owner and not a museum.

I know exactly who you are talking about. A few years ago I got an
offer for a free disk from a fella near Harrisburg, PA. I drove out
and got it and after talking with him for a long time he told me
about that guy and said the only payment he wanted for the disk
was for me to make a trip up there sometime and see his
collection. It's on my bucket list.

Paul is a great guy and what a memory he has back in 97 I got
a farmall 350 diesel and when I told Paul where it came from
he remembered selling it new and attatchmements that where
bought with it and that it had a low serial number
I try to go and visit him once a year if possible
