SC Hydraulics question

I have a 51 SC.In its lifetime,someone put fast
hitch on it off another SC,however I'm missing a
couple items. There is supposed to be a hydraulic
block fastened to the bottom of the seat box,the
lines go from the remote valve to it,then from it to
the cylinder. My parts book shows it,but gives very
little description of what its for save for two
check valves.Mine is plumbed with hoses from the
valve to the cylinder directly.Whats this valve for?

That valve keeps it from dropping an implement, it slows the flow of oil when u let the lift down so heavy implements go slowly to the ground

One way restrictors can be purchased from Surplus Equipment, or other supply houses. Some are adjustable. They allow full "up" speed and modified lowering. They plumb into the fittings where hoses attach easily. (or go with OEM block) Jim

It slows the drop of a heavy implement, sooner or later one will come up on Ebay if you can't find it in a junk yard.

The block contains a single acting check valve. It blocks oil from returning to the control valve unless it is opened by pressure on the other hose.

Since the control valve is not completely leak proof, the check valve keeps the cylinder from settling when it is carrying a load. Because the valve requires hydraulic pressure to open you cannot lower the hitch unless the engine is running.

Yep, that"s the right answer.

When I put a Saginaw 3-point hitch on my
Farmall C I went to a hydraulic supply house and
got a generic valve from Parker. I mounted it
under the seat base just as the SC Fast Hitch
does. Works slick and you don"t have to worry
about the load drifting.
