Loader Question

Hi I looked through the postings but couldn"t find answers. I have a 460 with I think a 33 loader. It is one way with a trip bucket.

When I raise the loader all is fine until the bucket gets about level with the hood. At this point you can hear the pump straining and the left side stops raising and if you push past this point what I assume is a pressure relief port on the bucket end of the cylinder will seep oil.

Can anyone shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

Easy answer, worse fix.
The piston seal in that cylinder has begun leaking past the piston. To get by for a little while, remove the relief
port (vent) and attach a hose to the threads to catch bypassed oil. Put a bucket under the hose to catch the oil and slowly raise the loader to expell the oil. If the cylinder packing/seal is leaking very little, this will solve the problem for a while. (put the vent back in, and always lower the loader when stopped or parked) If it leaks dramatically the cylinder will need to be repaired or replaced. Repair should be much cheaper. Jim

Might as well take both cylinders off and rebuild them. You will be dealing with the right one soon anyway, and you will be good to go for several more years.

As was said....The internals are leaking, fast or slow but leaking past the seals. The reason that it stops halfway(deadheads) is that it's 'hydrolocking'.Vent the oil out and it should work....For a while

I've had cylinders that chewed up seals. Here's what what you do:

Go to the auto parts store and buy two flexible hoses for grease guns. Take out the Allen head vent screw and put the hose in. Use a hose clamp to attach enough fuel line to them to get them back to the reservoir or vent on the belly pump. Tee them together and let it leak away. When you raise the loader it will push all of that right back into the belly pump.
