710 plow on 560 with fast hitch

Hi everyone.

I have a 560 diesel with a fast hitch and have been looking for a plow for it. I came across a 710 semi-mount 5 bottom 16" plow. I have the 3 point inserts for the fast hitch. Wondered what your thoughts were on cutting the plow down into a three bottom? Does the fast hitch raise up high enough to work well? Would I be better off looking for an actual fast hitch plow? Any other thoughts or opinions would be great.

Brad, I don't have a 560 nor have I ever used those fast hitch adapters for three point equipment but I feel the most solid hook-up you can obtain for a plow is very important. I have a Farmall 240 fast hitch tractor and looked for over a couple of years for an IH 211 fast hitch 2 bottom moldboard plow. I finally found a very nice one but for every one I found the IH 311 which is the correct fast hitch 3 bottom plow for a 560 came up by the dozens. I think if you can hold off and look for a no. 311 you will be very successful in the short term. Don't know where you are located but watch the ads on this forum and a couple will show up every month or so. Where you are located would also be nice to know as different sized equipment is sort of geographically located based on use and farm size. Good luck to you in your plow hunt and if you live around Missouri I can probably recommend a person to you who probably has what you need. I also know a person in Wisconsin who can probably be of great help. In finding a 211 I found a wanted ad in Red Power Magazine the most beneficial like other tough to find IH equipment and items. If you are a member of the national IHCC you can place a free ad in the quarterly Harvester Highlights magazine which is also very successful. In my IH 211 hunt I found several folks who seem to deal in IH plows and would be willing to share some contact info for them as well depending on your location. My email is open if one around the central part of Missouri or in southern Wisconsin is suitable for your travels or you desire a couple of other contacts, Hal.

The adapters should work. That 710 plow will have a lot more clearance than the old close coupled fast hitch plows.

3 bottom or 4 bottom fast hitch plow is perfect for a 560.Or a pull type would work as well.I would avoid a semi mount. Those tractors were made for fast hitch,or pull behind.3 pint 'adapters' will just not work right.... to "cut down" that 710 plow would ruin it,especially for resale. Wait till you find the 'right' plow, even if you pay a prewmium(or better) price.5 bottom is too much for a 560.

I know the 540 semi-mount plow was available with short, straight fast hitch adapters for use with the 560. Apparently it lifted high enough for that.

I mean, they're SHORT. I have a set at home, and they barely extend 6" out of the socket. Way shorter than your typical fast hitch adapters. The longer the adapters are, the higher they will lift the plow.

The 710 did come in a 3-bottom version, so cutting it down should be no problem. You can also raise and lower the hitch head, as well position it side-to-side to compensate for the change in the center of draft when you cut it down from 5 bottoms to 3.

I think it will work.
