C22 Sickle mower Question

I mentioned on my parts posting there is a mower there for sale too. I said it was a C22 as well. I think it is still. Would it fit my IH 400? It does have some tractor attachments and I think it did have pto hookup. I do know it had the wood splice as someone was asking about on this forum but that splice is kinda old and would need to be replaced. I have one from an auction and 2 blades for it too.

I do believe the "wood splice" you refer to is properly called a "pitman stick" and the "blades" are called "sickles" for the 7' long part or "sickle section" for individual pieces.
You would have to fabricate some kind of lift mechanism to work on a model 400.

So if someone put a pair of extensions to the quick hitch and I have a modified 3 pt, Should that work? I have extensions that should fit the lift points. I am just wondering if it would be easier to work with that 22 rather than the 15-16 I purchased a while back. 15-16 is a Dearborn model. As far as the pitman stick (yep that is what I was talking about) I am thinking about putting something in its place instead. I could use the new stick I have for a guide to make a metal stick.

I would not make a metal pitman stick! I was mowing once and hooked an old metal ring on one guard and it immediately stopped the sickle. It stopped it so fast the clutch did not have time to engage. It broke the stick and saved a LOT of damage!! Pitman sticks are cheap insurance and really do not cost that much.

The wooden pitman arm is definitely a must ... It's a safety
feature to protect the knife, mower, and potentially the PTO
(although the belt/slip gears also do this). They are made to
be broken, so to speak. They also are fairly easy to make if
you have an old one to copy. I would use oak or ash. Anyone
who has cordwood in 4' lengths can give you a piece that will
work as stock. I made two recently from extra lengths of oak
stair handrails.
