SH stage II Starter

In May I installed a new aftermarket starter made
outside the US. It is the 3 bolt style. It has
worked fine until now. When I push the lever to
start the starter motor just goes ZOOOOOM. It just
sounds like a hi speed motor. What should I look
for? thanks, Randy

Bendix is not working, by the sound of it. The gear is supposed to be flung out and engage the ring gear, if it does not then something is wrong.
