I think its because the drawbar is an attachment, there were dozens of implements designed to quick attach to the same mounts as the drawbar

I hope my '34 is not one that should have a red drawbar. I'd have a hard time doing that, it just wouldn't look right to me. Hope to be painting mine next month once I get the engine finished. Got a good start on it over the weekend.

Has anyone theme painted their tractor or implements? By Theme painting, I am saying for a sporting team of sorts. Oklahoma has the sooners and the sooner colors. I am considering painting my tractor a Seahawk Blue and Green. Not sure yet tho. It is a 400 with an F11 loader. Loader would have to be green so the manure spread by it would fit right in. LOL

Never thought of it that way but since I am a lifetime St. Louis Cardinal fan I like my tractor's IH red which is close enough to Cardinal red for my eyes. I also like the Seattle Sea Hawks having been a Boeing engineer for almost 40 years up north a little in Everett but there is no green around here except the grass, Hal.

I believe if you check the "Paint" memos in the historical archives, the drawbar was changed to red in the early 1930s for safety reasons - to have some red visible from the rear.

I looked in the archives. Decision No. 83 dated June 5, 1930 said that it was "because of the physical layout of the Farmall equipment some money can be saved by painting the drawbar Harvester Red, the same color as used on the Farmall wheels"

My gut feeling is that the Decision applied just to the Farmall, though I can't find anything that rescinds it. Nor can I find a Decision for the introduction of the F series. In the black and white pictures I've seen in the Wisconsin Archives they look to me to be the color of the tractor.

My drawbar will be dark gray...
