First H off the line in 1946

I have a buddy that has the first H off the line in 46 according to the serial numbers from this site. He was thinking about restoring it and selling it, but I told him any collector would probably want to pay to have that done themselves...their "right way." Does anyone know what this tractor might be worth in her working clothes?
Thanks in advance,
Travis

Anywhere from less than $500 to maybe $1,500. Not likely it would bring more than $1,500, even fully restored. Being the first off the line has very little significance.

Thanks Rusty, I know he was hoping for more than that, but he only paid 700 for it and it runs great so he's not currently out much.
Thanks again,
Travis

How is having a great running Farmall h for $700 considered being out anything at all? Sounds like he made a darn good purchase to me at a good price.

A lot of us do our own restorations, I doubt if they are any worse and possibly are better than the "experts" -- BUT he has to take his time.

If it's a nice 'original' with good tires,it's worth more just like that.A repaint will make it into "just another repainted old tractor".

I would agree $500 to $1500, absolutely no payback in doing anything except clean it up and run good.

Location is going to be a factor too. Prices are
generally high here in Iowa. Early this summer I
sold a '46 H that was restored in 2006 for $1950.

Either way he would be better off to sell as is. As
soon as he puts money into it, his profit margin
will quickly disappear.
