Super c clutch issues

I have split my super c and removed the old clutch parts. The pilot bearing was the most ridiculous as it took me 7 hours trying several methods. I tried the grease and bolt hydraulic action, I tried cutting it with a hacksaw blade and I even bought a PB puller tool after much frustration and even that failed, the teeth just pulled through. However after hours of cutting and hammering it chipped and pulled out.

Now when I went to place my new pilot bearing it doesn't go in. I took a flat board and hammer to tap it in but it took a major job to get it in and now I fear there is a slight line maybe crack in it.

How in the hell are you supposed to get that sucker in? I don't think I cracked it but I am worried about trying it again. I am also worried about trying to retake the new pilot bearing out and going through 7 more hours of frustration because it is TIGHT!!!

Any help here would be appreciative. How do you go about placing those pilot bearings?

Well, it should go in and come out easier than that. The snug-fitting pin and grease method should have popped it right out, and the new bushing should have tapped in with a little bit of effort.

Maybe the bore in the crankshaft is a little out of spec? Maybe the hole was galled up during a previous service? Unfortunately we will probably never know.

The only thing you could do to fix it is take the crank to a machine shop and have it bored out to spec.

There"s 2 part numbers shown for the bushing, but they APPEAR to interchange for each other.

43291D, BUSHING clutch pilot (Optional with 364527R91)

Do you have a genuine FIAT bushing, or a "may fit" generic aftermarket bushing?

Bought it from farmall parts as part of a clutch kit
