12 volt bn starter

I have a farmall bn that has been converted to 12 volt with key switch. I need to replace the starter and since there is no tag on the starter and it is not original with the starter button on it, the "parts pro's" can't figure out how to look it up manually, since the big brain box computer lists only the original. Any know a delco number or any other help would be appreciated. Thank you and have a great day.

I converted my SMTA starter to use a push button with a solenoid in place of the regular starter button. They may have done the same thing with your BN so a new starter like yours is not going to be available unless you can find one from a different application. Best option may be to get yours rebuilt

A 12 Volt starter for a 100, 130, 140, 200, 230, 240, etc., will fit.

That should open up a lot more options for you.

I"m still looking for a "solenoid-shifted" version, NO luck with that, so far.

Any good starter/alternator shop can rebuild your starter for less than the cost of a replacement.

Most likely your starter is the original. It simply had the power contact button replaced with a cable terminal stud. (I have a Super H that's been modified like this to work with a key switch & solenoid).

If you're specifically looking for a 12V starter for a BN, you're out of luck.

Even the 240's were 6 Volt from the factory.

Maybe a late 140, or a 404.

However, the starter does not need to be 12V. A 6V starter will work on 12V, no problem. Just don't crank it for more than 30 seconds at a time, and it will be fine.

Thank you to all. I will see if I take iust numbers to them if they can figure it out. Not having too much faith in that either, if ya knoe ehat I mean? If they can't punch it into the computer and it come right up they are lost theee days.
