140 hydrolic pump

On my 140 the hydrolic pump started to leak by one of the
bolts that mount it to the frame. So took it off found that the
hole inside has hair line cracks in it. Bought a used pump from
a Super c. I was told it was working when on the tractor. So to
make this long story short I put the new one on and started it
up nothing would work. You could push up and down on levers
and nothing would move or make a noticeable sound of
hydrolic fluid flowing. So turned it off and feelt that the pump
was extermly HOT! Is this pump shot to?

make sure that it if full of hydraulic fluid. then head tractor down hill. move levers back and forth quite a few times. this may get the air out.

C farmall has a screen on it. i am sure that 140 has a screen or filter. find it and clean or replace it.

sounds like oil is not getting to the pump.

There's no oil getting to pump. Primed it and still nothing pump is getting real hot quickly! The pump doesn't even have any suction when you put your finger over it

head the tractor down a steeper grade, chock, scotch it good so it does not roll off. let it sit there a day or two ( this may bleed the lines a bit). try hydraulic again, move levers slow, full extent both ways, one lever at a time, stop at the end of lever travel and repeat. if this does not work, then i do not know. try another pump. it should not take over a minute to prime.
