When I purchased my 1950 H, all wires to all lights were cut. I'm assuming the reason was that there must have been some sort of short. Essentially I have 1950's wiring that's shot.

Can I temporarily run a new wire from the voltage regulator directly to the headlights? I'd put a temporary toggle switch in-line as well.

The tractor will eventually be restored, but in the meantime I don't want to invest in a new wiring harness until then.
 
If the tractor has been converted to 12V and the original 6V bulbs
are still there they will burn out. Otherwise it should work, though I
would guess there is a reason the wires were cut and maybe you
will discover it.

It's still the original 6V system.

Also forgot to mention that the fuse in the electrical box was blown. I'm not sure if that was for the lighting or not.
 
Likely one of the wires in the lightbar shorted to ground. The fuse is for lights. Check the fuseholder clips for presence of voltage with the switch turned "on" either dim or bright; one side should be "hot" and the other "not".
If so, you have power available at the switch and can run a temporary new wire to the lights; install a new 20 amp fuse. Use 12 or 14 gauge wire and make sure the light assemblies have a good ground.
 
That will work! Just be sure feed the switch from the "L" (load) terminal on the regulator.

Also....I highly recommend installing an inline fuse (15 or 20 amp) before the switch to protect the regulator and temporary wiring.
 
It isn't much more work to just run the correct wires. I did it on my h last summer. It took about an hour and less than a spool of wire.
