International Seal conversion website

Gents,

I have found a handy tool. The link below is a site that will change over international seal part numbers to SKF seals popular at your local Napa.

I hope this helps. It sure helped me. In the big cities, no body carries the old books for cross reference.

Have a good day.

Then measure the groove it fits inside of and the diameter of the shaft it goes over if you ruin the seal.

Hadn't seen the link to the parts number conversion before I posted my question about the seal on the belt pulley.
What I'm finding is that if the parts man has been there about 10 years or more then all I need are measurements. If the parts man is less experienced then a part number is pretty important. Sometimes it just saves time to have a part number. If I have a number when I call they can help me "now". If I have measurements they say they'll call me back and sometimes it takes all afternoon for them to get a chance to look up measurements in a book (depends how busy they are)

I prefer part number because not all seals are created equal. One that fits may not be correct material for application. If it is a true conversion from IH part numbers you will stand a much better chance of getting the correct seal. Hy-Tran will pretty much destroy some seals same as it does to some O-rings. I have of course had to measure many times because a cross reference was not available or outdated.

Yes, I did that yesterday. Occasionally just any seal with the "correct" measurements does not have the same thickness or design of the original seal-that may or may not make a difference. Due to the price of CaseIH seals I usually cross them to Chicago Rawhide, most, not all of the time they are ok.
