I recently had the engine rebuilt in my 1950 Farmall Cub. The machine shop surfaced .005 off the flywheel. The machine shop visually looked at the pressure plate and clutch and said both were ok. The clutch worked perfectly, before. I installed everything back into the tractor, but the transmission grinds terribly when I try to put into gear. I made sure the clutch disk was turned in the proper direction, and the fingers on the pressure plate were measured at 1 3/16" of an inch, from the back of the pressure plate to the bottom edge of the fingers. Now it seems that the clutch does not stop the transmission shaft from turning. The clutch petal "feels" good. The prior owners may have had the flywheel surfaced before, as the engine had previously been rebuilt. My question is it possible that too much material has been ground off the flywheel? If so is there any adjustments I can make to the pressure plate that would help my situation, or are there any measurements that I can take to tell? Do I need to be looking for a new flywheel? Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
