My 574 has a fuel shutoff solenoid in the carb bowl which shuts the fuel off to the main jet to prevent dieseling. Sometimes it shuts off and kills the engine or won't allow the engine to start. How can I get rid of this *&^%$# thing? I can't simply unplug it because it has to have to have power to get gas to the main jet.

I had a 424 that had this. The Solenoid went bad, and I could not get it started. I bought a new solenoid from Case/IH. It was easy to install. Never had any trouble after that.

Hi Doug,You should be able to unscrew the soleniod and screw in a 3/8NF bolt & nut and set buy running engine at maxmium rpm and adjusting the bolt for non missing condition, then lock the nut. When I bought my 340U it had this set-up and ran just fine. I did however buy the proper needle valve as it looks like someone knew what they were doing instead of the mickey mouse look of the bolt. The exisiting main jet is correct for the solenoid or the needle valve.
