Ihave the tire off and I want to change the rear axle seal. I cannot get the inner wheel off the axle. It has moved aout 1/32" . Will l have to use heat or special pullers? Thanks, dozinhal

I tried to get the rear wheel off my 1941 W-4, Tried BIG puller made from 6 inch steel angle, heat, bottle jacks between wheel and transmission. NO movement. Took the whole axle out, undoing retaining plate inside bull gear and took the combination to a machine shop, they used about 40 ton in a press to get wheel off, 73 years rust etc.! Outer bearing came out in four pieces and loose rollers

I used 2 large thick pieces of square tubing to make a x shape and threaded rod with double nuts to hold everything to the cast center of the tractor and a 40 ton bottle jack. it came off. put something over the threads on the axel to not mess them up.
I might have a picture

Yes, I have had that experience too. I removed mine by stringing a logging chain through the holes in the cast hub so that it criss-crossed over the end of the axle. Then put a 12 ton bottle jack between the chain and pressed against the end of the axle. I left the pressure on and put lots of rust penetrant between the axle and hub for a few days. Finally, after some pounding on the axle tube portion of the hub with a sledge hammer, it finally released.

I was afraid to press against the transmission case with a bottle jack in case the problem multiplied.....
