farmall 504 need help

i drained all the hyd. oils. i found three plugs torque tube, transmission, rear end. when we went to fill it back up after changing the filter the oil came running out of the check plug after we put in only 10 gallons we are filling it through the transmission top cover did we miss something or is another way to fill the rear end what are we doing wrong????

Not absolutely sure about a 504, but my 560, 706, 806 and most Farmalls use a common reservoir for the tranny and rear end.

Your heading says 504 right. They don't hold ten gallons. More like 8.

case IH Dealer Said it would take 12 gallons to fill all hyd levels ???

If there isn't any old men that have worked on farmalls they don't have a clue . CASE IH they use computers for tractors that weren't intended to be on a computer. U need an IH man.

The 504 has the same basic rear end as the 460. Owner's manual for the 460 specifies 10 gallons.
