Someones way to put DB. rims on a H,M wheel

Saw this at a show. Metal welded to the V side of the double bevel clamps.

Not a bad idea, but it places point contact on the rim rather than 2 angled flats. A bend in a 1.25 ID pipe that matched the curve of the rim groove (big loop) then cut to segments and welded in would be fine. Jim
