Hi What would cause the bendix an starter to hang up
on the ring gear, once in awhile. After I loosen the
screws one turn it snaps back, and works good.

I'm not sure what in a starter causes it to hang up but all the old Farmalls will do that as you get worn spots on the ring gear. The only fix that I am aware of is a new ring gear.

Thanks for the info, We put a new clutch in 8 yrs ago,never thought to look at the ring gear. We will live with it. Dave

More often than not, a new starter drive will cure it.
