Farmall 806 propane

My 806 propane will not start. It was running great. it has been setting for about 5 months. The other day, I was going to use it, it started up and ran rough for about 3 minutes, then died. I have fire to the positive side of the coil, and to each plug. The tank has about 70% fuel and the fuel lines are not clogged. The air filter is not plugged. I am thinking it is the vaporizer, but not sure. When I crank the engine I can smell propane. I have not sprayed soapy water on the vaporizer to see if it is leaking, but the tractor acts like it is flooding. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Try this and see if it starts and runs. I have to do it to a 3020 we have. turn off the gas and then hit the starter. while it is turning then turn the gas on. but not all the way open. If it runs good that way then probably a valve in the vaporizer. Haven"t had time to take mine off and go through it but i know if I turn gas on first it will not crank and will flood out.

You could have a perforated diaphragm on the high pressure side, or the screws could need tightening on that cover plate on the high pressure side. On Ensign converters, high pressure is the smaller plate. You could also have a little bit of foreign matter in the low pressure valve that is actuated by the larger, low pressure, diaphragm. If you email me I can walk you through it. Hugh McKinney
