Wide front for 300 Farmall

I been thinking of putting a wide front on my 300 for awhile now. Years ago I had a Super M that I put a wide front on, the front end was factory IH off of a 756. I had to buy a new rear saddle from A&I to put it on the Super M. But it bolted right up and really looked nice. Id like to find another front end of that type for my 300, as I like the way they look and I like the 6 bolt hubs. Now I know this is not "Correct", but its what I prefer. So what IH models would have a wide front that's compatible with my 300?

Nothing IH with the 6 bolt hubs is a straight bolt on. 460,560 and some newer ones will bolt up to the front bolster. But the steering arms from them have a different bolt pattern than a 300 steering shaft and the rear support to frame rails won't work. Those parts need modified or late SH through 350 parts used. May need to use some spacers for some line up with those parts and another front.

Thank you, I had heard that a 504 front end would fit. I do like the cast spoke. . .but like the 6 bolt better.

You don't want a farmall 340 or 504 IH wide front for a farmall 300. Most parts don't come close to bolting up and they have the tie rods out front of the axle.
Only IH direct bolt on is ones that came out for a late SH and on 300 and 350 tractors. Think I remember putting 300 or 350 utility 6 bolt hubs on one of those axles once to use the 6 bolt rims.

This is a IH 504 wide front, 340 same type.

(quoted from post at 21:29:32 04/14/14) I get that-Finally! I however like the old cast 3 'spoke' ones.....

I also like the "look" of the original cast hubs and rims, but if you're hanging a loader on that tractor, the 6 bolt hubs and stamped steel wheels will hold up a whole lot better, as well as give the option of wide, flotation type tires.

What does a 6 bolt pattern have that a 3 bolt pattern would not for putting a loader on a Farmall 400 wide front? I have purchased an F11 for mine and am installing it on my '56 400. I am also going to install the hydraulics to the manifold on the left side of the hyd pump and use the mounted switches on the F11.

6 bolt hubs will let you mount some WIDE rims and tires for greater flotation. Also, those original cast iron hubs and 3 bolt rims have a tendency to break with a heavy load such as an F11 will place on them.

Thank you. I shall look for more suitable rims then. I prefer the wide front for stability rather than the short front.

460/560 front ends will NOT bolt up to the 300 front bolster.

The 300 is a "narrow frame" tractor same as an H.

Both the 460 and 560 are "wide frame" tractors up front, same as an M.

Really, there is no modern wide front that will bolt to a 300. When IH went to the 460, they used "bump-out" frame rails to accommodate the big 6-cylinder engine block, making the front of the tractor the same width as the 560.

The 350 was the last of the fully narrow frame tractors, and the factory IH wide front for those had 3-spoke cast wheel hubs.

If you want 6-bolt hubs, you will need to find a Schwartz wide front as Allan suggests.

560 and 460 IH fronts will bolt to a 300 bolster. Two parts don't work without changes. The steering arm, both have a M size bolt pattern. Support at the rear only works on 460 and 560 but can be modified to work on a 300. Also the holes in the steering arm can be made to work. Or use a 300 steering arm and rear support.
