Left side, directly opposite the starter in the "torque tube" or what looks like a bell housing. There is a hex plug there for filling and on the right side below that is a drain plug. filter is held it with 4 cap screws on the right side of the hydraulic system right to the rear of the starter... it could be plugged.

The drain plug for the Hydra-Touch System is on the left side and is a hex plug below the filler plug noted by IH Fan. The drain plug will be the second hex head plug back behind the steering knuckle which connects with the steering shaft running horizontal towards the front of the tractor. The system holds 5 1/2 quarts of IH Hy-Tran fluid and if you are lucky and have power steering it requires an additional 1/2 quart. This information is clearly shown on page 45 of the Preventive Maintenance Manual for the 240 models. Hope this helps and you enjoy your 240, Hal.

What I get for doing this from memory... was thinking the drain was on the opposite side. Did not walk out to the tractor because it's parked at the back on my lot, about 100 yards away.

Thanks, guys.Put some oil in it,cleaned the filter/screen and it works fine.
