early M/H toolbox

Dunno where you can buy one, but even tho I don't weld, I made my own. I used some 1/8" flat stuff with the non-skid to the inside, cut that with a cutting blade on an angle grinder, added a couple of angle irons for the corners in the front, bolted it together, sprayed it with some red paint and I've got an underseat tool box. "Correct Police" wouldn't like it, but I USE my '39. Today I baled hay with it. kelly

If I'm thinking of the right seat assembly, I believe that little tool cubby hole was part of the seat assembly itself. Might not really be an individual peice to try and find. You might have to try to find a good used entire seat assembly. I made an actual tool box that would bolt onto the frame rail. I even angled the top and built a hinged lid for it. It is the best thing since cotton candy. I did this because the tractor had a delux seat on it at the time. I sure do wish I had a tool box like I made on all of my tractors.

Steiner is selling new seat assemblies for the 39 & early 40 Farmalls. They only show complete assemblies with the tool box in the catalog but, if I were you I'd call them to see if you can buy just the tool box. Good luck!
