Neighbour got the wrong disc!, about 2 weeks ago the right disc came in. Today I installed the disc, put the springs/longer hub away from the flywheel. Finished rest up, uncaged the pressure plate. The 3 fingers that disengage are loose. No tension on them. Pushing on the clutch pedal does nothing. What have I done wrong? Needing some help please.

Least I have the disc in the right way. I'm thinking that the pressure plate is worn out. As was the clutch disc, was just about to the rivets. But only wanted disc replaced. I was looking around, noticed that there is some thread bolts on each arm of the pressure plate. Read up in the book that there adjustable, but shows doing that on the bench with some sort of tools to compress it. The heads of these bolts are just about worn off. So I'm going to bolt store & find something that is close & hopefully get this tractor out of my hair. Thanks for the help.

Springs go toward the pressure plate. When you press the clutch in how far is the throwout bearing from plate fingers? The fingers on the pressure plate do wear out. I assume the disc was replaced due to slippage? My SM with all new components in the clutch had to have the clutch rod adjusted to near end of travel to get it set correctly.

I tried the adjusting the rod, didn't make any difference. Isnt there suppose to be tension on the 3 fingers? I took the cover off the bottom of the SW6, there is tension on the fingers against the release brg.

Only thing that was replaced was the clutch disc, that's all he wanted replaced. I said should be replacing from pilot brg to release brg. Which way is the clutch disc hub suppose to face?

Was flywheel resurfaced? If so was it stepped correctly? How much adjustment do you have on the clutch adjustment rod? I had about same issue until I adjusted it correctly.

Pete
