Case IH Oil Drain Plug Won't Turn Loose

Just bought a used Case IH 245 diesel compact tractor. I tried to loosen the engine oil drain plug but it will not turn out. The square is all chewed up from the previous owner trying to do the same thing. Any suggestions on a way to loosen the threads before nothing is left to get hold of the plug?

Second question: The rear tires are filled with liquid...is it OK to add air to get the proper pressure according to the owners manual. Or do I leave it at zero pressure as the tires do not look flat at all?

In a similar circumstance,I had luck with a pipe wrench. Add air. Find the rated PSI for the tire. You will need a 'water gauge',available from NAPA,etc(NOT autozone....) for about 10 bucks(I just bought one last week).Rotate the tire so the stem is at the top(but not really nessesary) and add air.Just like adding to a car.....

Thanks for the response. I did think of using a pipe wrench but sprayed it first with penetrating oil. Not sure if penetrating oil does any good or not. I suspect for it to work you must keep spraying every day for about a week. I may only have one shot with the pipe wrench as there is not much left to get hold of.

Weld a nut to the bottom of the plug if you have a welder. If not a little heat and some vice grips if the pipe wrench does not work.

Are you sure you're turning the drain plug CCW? Weld a nut on it and use your air impact wrench. Hal
