Saginaw hitch question

My BIL hooked my back blade up today and when I was putting it away I noticed that one arm was in the CAT.2 slot and the other arm was in the CAT.1 slot, do they have to match up?

Also, can the cylinders stay extended when not in use? I was going to leave the blade hooked up but when the blade is down all the way the arms still have a ways to go until closed. Just wasn't sure if its going to hurt anything.

thanks, anthony

Cat 1 pin in a cat 2 hole will be sloppy, uneven hitching changes geometry but not a huge issue, but I would not want the slop.for the exposed pistons, if it will be a while, rub grease on them, day to day should be no issue, much like many loader rams are exposed, and on Ps rams that use 2 cyls, 1 or half of each is always exposed

Rotate the ball around, it has both Cat I and Cat II holes in it, or at least that's how my Saginaw is setup.

As the others said. The pistons can be in any position. If you want a certain depth each time you can put sleeves on the rods--available at any farm store.
