Cuts off under a load

Checking into purchasing a Farmall 130 runs good but the owner says it dies or cuts off under a load. Carb. has been cleaned, new coil, condinessor, and push rod replaced.

What could be the problem?

Many years ago but I had a coil going bad. could also be a slow gas line or the float is not set correctly. With the carb upside down in your hand the float must be level. Pick the end of the float up just a tad and you should be able to blow through the gas inlet a little at a time. The higher the float the more flow.

Does $2500 sound like a good price with this issue and no battery? But it does have disc, row buster, fast hitch, scrape blade, cultivators, fertilizer hopper & gears.

Look at the condition of the implements and price accordingly or post pictures and we can help no pictures makes bad prices.

If a tractor does not run right, so that you can't fully test drive it to your satisfaction, discount it by 30 to 50 percent compared to one in running condition. The tractor could have more problems than just the engine. This one sounds like hasn't been maintained by someone that knows what they are doing. Look it over well and check the condition of the fluids.

Generally, if it is an easy fix the seller would have fixed it before selling it.

You have to take ANY claims made by the seller with a grain of salt. Any work may have been done incorrectly, or not at all.

"Cuts out under a load", assuming the ignition parts have been replaced as the seller claims, AND were replaced correctly, it is likely to be a fuel supply problem. Crud in the tank, crud in the sediment bowl, crud in the fuel line, crud in the carburetor, gummed up/dirty carburetor, badly rebuilt carburetor...

$2500, with all the implements and accessories, is not outrageous if the running problem is a simple fix.

I know if I heard it run, I would know if the tractor had potential or not. If it starts easily and runs smoothly, you should be ok.

This sport is for those with the drive to learn what they need to learn, or have the knowledge by being involved from their growth spurt era. If you can fix it, or are willing to go after fixing it buy it. If it smokes when running do not buy it
If the tires are good buy it. if the tires are toast it is worth a thousand less. It has no Live power take off. other than that it is a nice tractor. Be confident and talk or walk. Jim
